The RENE WASSERMAN AWARD was initiated in 1999 by Christopher Wasserman, President of the TeroLab Surface Group (TLS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, in memory of his father who died in 1993. René Wasserman was the founder of the world-leading Eutectic & Castolin Group. He is considered one of the pioneers in welding technology and thermal spraying.

The René Wasserman Award is accredited every 3 years to the enterprise in the field of thermal spaying which has superior economic results while adhering to TLS social responsibility values (social, societal and environmental).

After fulfilling rigorous requirements, the winner is announced at the annual International Thermal Spray Conference & Exposition (ITSC) and is presented with the RENE WASSERMAN AWARD sculpture accompanied by a cash prize of 10.000 Swiss francs.
